Getting to know Islam

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

Hey guys,

Hope everyone is having a great and peaceful day. I would like to share some thoughts. Even though I was raised as a muslim in an Islamic environment, I haven't really dig through its teachings. It was just recently I realized that my knowledge of Islam is quite shallow when I started studying in Australia and met many atheist people. A 2 hour debate with an atheist colleague at uni awakened me of how much I've been ignoring my own religion's valuable teaching.
So I started digging out lots of sources about Islam's teaching that is easy to understand, and found these links that you guys should check it out:

That's all for now, must get back to work, Have a wonderful day guys and girls! =)

Tired of exercise and diet ....... !?!?!?                                       Haaa ... you might be like this Doctor  !!!

Hey ....... , I like this doctor ....... !

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?

A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it ... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables

A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat?  Hay and corn.   And what are these?
Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of  delivering vegetables to your system.  Need grain?                       Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (greenleafy vegetable) ...  And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products ...

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: No, not at all.  Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain.  Bottoms up!

Q:  How  can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one.  If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?

A: Can't think of a single one, sorry.                                                    My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?

A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING !!! .......
Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're   permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for  you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?

A: Definitely not!  When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger.     You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!!        It's the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?

A: Hey!   'Round' is a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had  about food and diets.  And remember:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving  safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways -  Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming  "WOO HOO, What a Ride"

    AND......

For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health.
It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewerheart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

 CONCLUSION.. ........

Eat and drink what you like.

Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Enjoy your life !

Annoyed with the sound quality mac version of Skype ?

Friday, March 27, 2009

Skype for mac is silly, it auto-adjust its mic volume but there is no setting for manual overdrive..

so,, here's a tweak I found to change that:

Disable Skype's auto-changing of microphone volume

Skype always irritated me with its automatic microphone volume changes. The Windows version has the ability to disable this option in the preferences pane, but the Mac version does not. Today, I spent some time trying to solve this problem. After some searching on net, I found a solution for the Windows version which also works on the Mac.

Quit Skype and open the folloving file with TextEdit: ~/Library » Application Support » Skype » shared.xml. At the end of the document, you'll see this section
<VoiceEng>
<MicVolume>77</MicVolume>
</VoiceEng>
Simply change this section to look like this (adding one new line):
<VoiceEng>
<AGC>0</AGC>
<MicVolume>100</MicVolume>
</VoiceEng>

AGC means Automatic Gain Control, and setting it to 0 disables this feature. Set it to 1 if you want to enable it again. TheMicVolume can range from 0 (mute) to 255 (full volume). Save the file and start Skype.

Note: I'm using Tiger and Skype 2.6.0. I have no experience with other OS X and/or Skype versions, but I hope this hint will help some frustrated Skype users.

happy skype-ing!!!

Study Break this week!

From my point of view, study break is the opportunity to actually sit down and study and catchup with projects/assignments. While at the same time, I could do lots of refreshing.

So, i have some pictures from this week's adventures:

Btw, for all you game programmers out there, these might be useful if you get a coder's block:

Dealing with Coder's Block: A Guide To Getting Back Into Your Project

By: Joel Longanecker

Evil Hamster Games 2K3

Okay, everyone that has ever worked on a game or application in any language knows what coder's block is. It is not easy to deal with. Getting paid to work on the project is an excellent motivator, however, this is most likely not going to happen. I am going to share with you some of the ways I deal with it.

Playing similar games of the same genre help. If I am working on a Bomberman clone, I play Bomberman; super Bomberman, and some other top-down puzzle games. Same thing goes if I am trying to create an RPG. I will sit down and play Megaman Battle Network until my head hurts. I think this helps because you will understand more about what you are trying to do. You might consider things you wouldn't have thought of otherwise.

Draw out screen shots. As dumb as it might sound, visualization it a big part of getting your self motivated. Draw out the characters and color them. You can always work on other parts of the game then the code. If I am designing a FPS, it might help to see what the enemy looks like dead.

Talk about it. Get on a forum or MSN and tell your friends about it. If you can get them interested, you can get your self interested too.

Get some fresh air. Just walk away from the computer for a week or so, but just make sure to leave some indication of where you stopped.

I hoped this helped. Now stop reading this and get to work!

G'day mates! :P
